During Karina's childhood in Jakarta, her architect father taught her how to draw and paint. The gestural drawings she created still inform her design process today.
Inspired by directors including Stan Brakhage, known for his experimental films, her design language is defined by a sculptural exploration of colors, volume, fluidity, and movement. Since 2020, Karina has been dedicated to transforming deadstock and discarded materials into vibrant, tactile textiles. She embraces intense color palettes, layered transparency, and a sense of ease to create pieces that celebrate individuality. Her work encompasses reclaimed materials, artistry, and emotional resonance. Her garments tell stories while empowering the wearer.
Her work has been featured in Vogue Runway, Forbes, WWD, Time Out New York, Dew Magazine as well as being showcased at New York Fashion Week and Helsinki Fashion Week. Karina is based in New York City and is currently working for Zero + Maria Cornejo.
